Team Oorja is a student-led engineering team affiliated with the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET). Established in 2016, the team focuses on designing and fabricating electric and solar-powered vehicles for competitions and sustainable mobility initiatives. They gained recognition in the EFFI Cars electric vehicle competition, where they won the Best Design Award for their solar electric passenger vehicle.

The team works on innovative projects, including an electric go-kart and a solar-powered electric vehicle, which features a drive-by-wire system for enhanced performance. Team Oorja is structured with dedicated leadership and departments that manage both technical and non-technical functions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to vehicle design, fabrication, and energy efficiency. Their efforts highlight a commitment to advancing electric propulsion and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
