SJVN Limited is a public sector undertaking and joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh, established on May 24, 1988. Initially named Nathpa Jhakri Power Corporation, the company has evolved through several name changes and focuses on developing hydroelectric power projects. It took over the Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric Project in 1992 and began commercial generation in 2003. By March 2022, SJVN achieved a total installed capacity of around 2000 MW and reported significant revenue growth.
