THE FORGOTTEN ARTS - The determination shown by craftsmen alike Kumhaar(potter), luhaar(blacksmith), mochi(cobbler), carpenter, murtikaar (rock carver) and weavers to create each work a masterpiece is unknown to the generation today. These can be described as one of the purest forms of art and science in the most practical way, but the emergence of industrialization replaced these traditional handworks, and here we put forward an idea to set a platform for reviving our lost cultures and save it from being lost.
• SELF REALIZATION - Its high time we realise the importance of small handicrafts and craftsmen and start recognising these skills which though a part of our culture, are being neglected. We fail to realize the small efforts spend by them to produce their piece of work. The process of conversion of raw cotton to a cloth may sound simple to say, but efforts put over are hardly acknowledged.
• REMINISCING CULTURE & TRADITIONS - Bharat was once a nation that pioneered in practical learning dipped in the essence of art and beauty. The rock carvings in the temples, undaunted structures made by our ancestors, marvellous wood carvings, the wonders of clay and many more are now restricted to merely history textbooks. The marvels created by the Indian craftsmen had gained immense popularity even in lands far away, however we began forgetting them. The birth of machines and industries has also contributed towards uprooting the indigenous craftsmanship off their hard-earned skills.
• EDUCATION v/s PRACTICAL LEARNINGS - Our current educational system gives prominence to textbook learning, but making practical application of these are rarely considered. This never turns out to be an issue until they step in to the society and it would be these people who are to represent the future of our nation. It's hence the need of the hour to incorporate observation and experimentation too along with textbook learning. Knowledge isn't complete unless one knows to apply it.
