Pahari Performing Rights Association ( PPRA) is an Indian company limited by guarantee. It was incorporated in 2021 and registered under the provisions of Companies Act, 2013, as an association of its members ( Authors, Composers & Publishers) Aniroudh Sharma (Chairman Emeritus), Kiran Sharma ( Chairman Emeritus) and Co-founding members founded AASMA ( Association of Artists, Society of Music & Arts) registered under HP Societies Act, 2006 to help local people safeguarding their rights. Since, AASMA couldn't protect artists and stakeholder rights. They came forward to incorporate Section-8 Company named PSARA (Pahari Singers and Artists Rights Association) in 2021. AASMA & PSARA conducted many surveys and found that the Collective Management Organization is the only way to protect the rights of authors, composers & publisher owners. After 3 years of research, PPRA applied for Copyright Society Registration under Section 33 of the Copyright Act 1957, in copyright business of issuing or granting license in respect of musical work as defined as section 2(p) of the copyright act, 1957 and literary work associated with musical work.
