The Mount Karol Bird Research & Conservation Programme is a small, field-based effort focused on ecological observation, conservation action, and education in the Mount Karol landscape of Himachal Pradesh, India.

The programme works in a mid-Himalayan oak–conifer forest system experiencing increasing pressure from climate change, pilgrimage and trekking activity, road infrastructure, and surrounding agriculture. Birds are used as indicators of broader ecosystem health.

Activities include bird and nest monitoring, basic insect observations, documentation of human disturbance, small-scale conservation actions, and education initiatives such as student bird walks and outreach for visitors and local communities.

The programme aims to generate long-term ecological understanding while building local awareness and shared responsibility for the conservation of Mount Karol's birds and forests.
